About Gebrüder LIMMERT

The company was founded in 1924 as Gebrüder LIMMERT OHG in Salzburg and developed over the years into Gebrüder LIMMERT AG. It is now one of the largest private electrical wholesalers in Austria.

With 160 employees, LIMMERT generates about 70 million euros in annual sales. The company stores over 25,000 products on 12,700 square meters, which are always available. More than 1.3 million electrical and electronic products can be ordered in their online shop.

On the Gebrüder LIMMERT AG website, you will find not only products but also various information about the latest developments and innovations. For example, the "Photovoltaics" expertise area includes a wide range of information—from consulting and planning to the implementation of systems on-site.

Additionally, Gebrüder LIMMERT AG is engaged in Klimabündnis.at, with many of their measures going far beyond the statutory requirements.

Objective

The goal was to modernize the online shop, particularly with a focus on responsive design. The B2B web shop should be equally accessible not only via computers but also via tablets or smartphones. Additionally, an application for mobile devices was to be developed, along with other general custom features.

Implementation

4FO AG redesigned the online shop for Gebrüder LIMMERT AG based on Intershop 7 B2X, incorporating custom features specifically tailored for the company. The online shop is hosted and managed by 4FO AG at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center in Frankfurt.

Result

Since September 1, 2017, the new online shop featuring over 1.3 million products has been accessible to all customers. It is now faster, more organized, and more user-friendly. In conjunction with this, the complete homepage (www.limmert.com) was replaced.

The extensive functionality of the SHCware inventory management system was integrated accordingly, allowing the SHC order management, the entry of new products, and the individual return management of Gebrüder LIMMERT AG to be operated directly in the customer's account area.

The interface of the web shop now includes not only the display and management of orders, quotes, credits, invoices, and backorders but also the display of individual prices for each customer and the calculation of various product-specific surcharges, such as copper and cutting surcharges for cables.

Another result of our work is that customers can now also capture and edit items in the product catalog that were previously unavailable. The direct connection to SHCware ensures that the invoicing of the items remains transparent for the customer.

Gebrüder LIMMERT AG now also has the ability to create sub-accounts for each customer, with specifically assigned rights.

Thematic worlds can now be created and presented on the website in such a way that the advertised articles can be ordered directly from the page.

Additionally, extra content from Oxomi has been integrated directly onto the product detail pages. This includes, for example, catalog pages related to the product, videos, additional images, detailed product descriptions, or access to all catalogs of the represented manufacturers.

Through the application we created for iOS and Android, users can not only access all the functions of the online shop, but customers can also order scanned items directly in the webshop by scanning barcodes.
